🚌 For teachers whose hearts grow three sizes when the buses roll in.
How cute are these smiley yellow buses?? Tap into the excitement of taking a ride on the bus with this charming “Welcome Back” bulletin board design. Happy yellow buses with huge friendly eyes ride along the curves of the road, bringing kids back to school. Adding “We Missed You” along the bottom makes the kids feel special.
This design uses a sky-blue background with a dark green overlay for the hills. Black marker was used to draw the lines of the road. We used yellow buses from the Back-to-School Shapes variety pack and Bright 3-inch Letters layered over White 3-inch Letters.
✏️ For teachers who treat school supplies like a personality trait.
Crayons are fun and colorful and a school supply staple, so why not make a bulletin board out of them? We used a neutral kraft paper background and sprinkled it with rainbow-colored Crayon Cutouts. Make a simple crayon box out of card stock and write the kids’ names on the crayons and . . . voila! You’re done!
Crayon Cutouts are also featured in the Back-to-School Shapes variety pack, along with Yellow School Buses and Handprint Cutouts.

🎂 For classrooms where birthdays mean big smiles and extra hugs.
Who doesn’t love Birthdays, especially when you’re a kid? I think one of my favorite things about a Birthday bulletin board is its simplicity. It requires no elaborate brainstorming of creative themes—we’re just celebrating everyone’s special day.
We made this design with the Birthday Party Cutouts variety pack, which includes Balloons, Stars, and cupcakes that can easily be split into two pieces to switch frosting colors. We chose the Bright color pack, but there’s also a Happy color pack with pink, purple, green, blue, and yellow.
🍎 For teachers who believe apples and aha moments both start small.
Apples are a classic back-to-school and fall seasonal theme, so why not make this adorable apple-inspired board featuring 3-D red and green apples. They’re simple to make, and the result is really cute. We made ours on a sky-blue background with black and red letters layered over white letters—but a white or dark green, a kraft brown, or even a black background with white letters would work.

- Sweetest Apples in the Bunch

🔵 For classrooms where growth mindset meets construction paper magic.
Can you really make a cool bulletin board design with simple circles? Yes, you can!! In fact, circles are a great choice for anything that kind of lacks an identifiable theme, if that makes sense. Sometimes you just need to feature something practical, and a cutesy theme or gimmick doesn’t fit the occasion. Or, maybe you’re just not feeling super creative at the moment and prefer “done” over “perfect.” Enter Circle Cutouts.
We used a clean black background and circles of the same size to complete the design, but there are 6 sizes in the pack, so sometimes it’s fun to create almost a bubble effect of larger and smaller circles. Circle cutouts are also featured in our Everyday Shapes variety pack, where you’ll get Circles, Stars, and Hearts.

🦋 For teachers who know new beginnings come with tiny wings and big feelings.
Here’s a design that has some dimension! These butterflies have bendable wings that lift off the background of the board, making it seem as though the butterflies have landed in the classroom.
We used easy punch out Butterflies in rainbow colors and two different sizes to create eye-catching dimension and texture. Add names and decoration to the butterflies for a personal touch. We loved this purple background, but lots of different colors could work.

🎈 For teachers who believe bright colors and big dreams are the perfect combo.
If you’ve ever seen this famous scene in the movie, Up, you’ll find this heartwarming design a fun one to recreate for your class. And you might be thinking “That’s A LOT of balloons to cut out” (and you’d be right) but we’ve got a little shortcut for you.
These pre-cut balloons in rainbow colors are easy to punch out of the sheet and quickly turn into a huge bouquet of balloons as the focus for this uplifting design. White balloons turned into puffy clouds, and a house was made with scrap paper. We added string, but you can skip that step and draw the strings on if it’s easier. As a final step, write the kids’ names on the balloons to draw them into the adventure.
⭐️ For classrooms where rules are cool and kindness earns a star sticker.
Call attention to important lessons or ideas with this dynamic bulletin board design. A black background sets off the bright colors of the Star Cutouts we used. The stars come in 10 colors and 6 sizes and we used the different sizes and colors to fill the board and decorate the corners. Cut strips of colorful card stock from a multicolor paper pack to turn the stars into shooting stars. Make the strips wide enough to write on, gather them in clusters of 2 or 3 in different lengths and place a star on one end. We like to curl the strips a little bit with the blade of a pair of scissors to add some dimension to the board.
You can easily turn this design into a patriotic theme using the Red, White & Blue Star Cutouts instead.
Star themes for bulletin boards:
- Mrs. Ryan’s Class Shines Bright
- You're a Star
- This Class Is Full of Shining Stars
- Let Your Light Shine

☂️ For teachers who know positivity spreads in any forecast.
Here’s a creative 2-tone rainy day and sunny day kindness bulletin board with kind gestures featured on colorful Umbrella Cutouts. We chose a dark blue background for half the board to illustrate rainy days, and the sky-blue background for the other half for when the sun comes out. Hand-cut cloud, sunshine and raindrops are easy embellishments to pull it all together. Finish with large and small White Letters.
Umbrella themes for bulletin boards:
- Rain or Shine, We’re Always Kind!
- Keeping the Rain Away in 1st Grade
- It’s Raining Books
- Shower Others with Positivity
- April Showers Bring May Flowers (Great with DIY Flower Cutouts)
🎃 For teachers who like their fall bulletin boards cozy, cute, and pumpkin-obsessed.
Fall is all about the pumpkins—pumpkin carving, pumpkin spice, pumpkin pie, you name it. So, make a pumpkin themed bulletin board that will carry you deep into the season. We used a dark green background and Pumpkin Cutouts for this seasonal favorite of ours. A fun little detail that adds serious cuteness is the curly pipe cleaner green “vines” on the stems of the pumpkins. We put striped string bows on some pumpkins and pipe cleaners on others for texture and whimsy.
Pumpkin shapes are also featured in our Halloween Shapes and Fall Shape Cutouts Variety packs (in a single shade of orange).
Pumpkin themes for bulletin boards:
- Cutest Pumpkins in the Patch
- Welcome to Our Patch
- Hey There, Pumpkin!
- Happy Fall Y’all
- Carve Out Time for Reading
🐠 For classrooms where every little fish belongs.
Everybody likes an underwater adventure, so turn your bulletin board into the sea and the students into colorful fish! For this simple design, we used a blue background and pre-cut fish in bright assorted colors. Each child has a fish with their name on it. Then, we took dark green bulletin board paper and cut seaweed strips to “grow” from the bottom of the board. Basic White 3-inch letters finished the scene.

- You Are O-FISH-ally the Best
- Sea of Creativity
